Manuscript Consideration

Full Disclosure. The manuscript should provide full and appropriate credit to all who contributed to the experimental data and their interpretation and discussion. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a cover letter signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all the authors that its publication has been approved by all coauthors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work has been carried out. The cover letter should explicitly state that the manuscript has not been previously published in any language anywhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis) and that it is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Moreover,Journal of Fasa University of Medical Sciences will not publish any manuscript unless the chemical structures of all compounds are fully disclosed, either by reference to prior work providing such data or by enclosure of such data in the manuscript.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  • Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Ethics in Animal and Clinical Investigations

Investigation using experimental animals must contain a statement confirming the adherence of the research to the Principles of Laboratory Animal Care (NIH publication #85−23, revised in 1985). Investigation involving human subjects should be in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975 (revised in 2008) and be approved by the institutional ethics committee or equivalent; and this should be stated in the “Methods” section. In addition, authors should send a notary verified letter of approval from the Ethics Committee or the Institutional Review Board.

In case of any doubt about the adherence of the research to the Helsinki Declaration, it should be demonstrated that the doubtful aspects have been explicitly approved by the relevant institutional ethics committee, and the rational for the approach should be explained.

In clinical studies involving human subjects, the patients right to privacy should be considered and any form of identifying information should not be published unless this is necessary for scientific purposes and the patient give written informed consent. in this case, this should be indicated in the manuscript.

Conflict of interests

Any information regarding the potential conflict of interests related to various aspects such as financial support by commercial firms, etc… should be disclosed in manuscripts to help clarify this issue.

Peer Review

All submissions fulfilling the journal’s requirements (regarding the field, format, the language, and scientific quality and significance) will be reviewed anonymously by three or more national and international referees expert in the field, at least two of which are out of the editorial board members. The corresponding author could also suggest potential reviewers to the journal at the time of submission. However, the editorial board reserves the right to select or refuse to use the suggested potential reviewers. For more information regarding the manuscript review process, please see below.


Original research works in two forms of research paper or short communication could be submitted for consideration for publication. The review articles and commentaries are only accepted by invitation. The manuscripts should be written in clear and concise language. They should be prepared in accordance with the “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submission to Biomedical Journals” proclaimed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work. The right is reserved to incorporate any changes deemed necessary by the Editorial Board to make contributions harmonize the editorial standards of the Journal.

The prepared manuscript should be submitted online to the following address: The manuscript should be in word 2003 (or later) format. The entire article should be submitted as a single file. Do not insert tabs in references. Use one hard return at the end of each reference.

For information about the structure of the articles, the authors should read the instructions bellow. It is also suggested to refer to the latest issue of the journal (available online).

Preparation of manuscripts

Manuscripts must be typed double-spaced with margins of at least 25 mm. Each of the following manuscript components should begin on a new page in the following sequence:

Page 1, Running Title, a maximum of 40 spaces and letters. Title Page, provide the full title, full name(s) of author(s), highest awarded academic degree, institutional affiliation(s), address(es), email(s) and acknowledgement of financial support (grant number, institution, and location);

Page 2, Structured Abstract and Key Words. The abstract should present the study Objective, Materials & Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Emphasize new and important aspects of the study or observation. Word limitation, 150- 300 words. Below the abstract provide and identify as such, 3 to 8 key words or short phrases that will assist indexers in cross-indexing the article.

The following components should be identified after the abstract: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, and Legends.

All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship. The order of authorship should be a joint decision of the coauthors. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for the content. In general, no more than six authors is considered appropriate.

Acknowledgments. Persons who have contributed intellectually to the paper but whose contributions do not justify authorship may be named and their function or contribution described, e.g. "design and conduct of the study", "data collections", "management, analysis and interpret-tation of the data", "preparation, review or approval of the manuscript", "scientific adviser", or "participation in clinical trial". Such persons must have given their permission to be named. Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission from the persons acknowledged by name, because readers may infer their endorsement of the data and conclusions.

Financial supports, the specific role of the funding organization and any conflicts of interest must be mentioned.

Units of measurement. Measurements of length, height, weight, and volume should be reported in metric units (meter, kilogram, or liter) or their decimal multiples. Temperatures should be given in degrees Celsius. All hematologic and clinical-chemistry measurements should be reported in the metric system in conventional units. If values are represented in SI units, the conversion factor must be included.

Statistical validation. When describing statistical analyses that have been performed, tests that were used to evaluate a specific data set must be clearly indicated. When data are presented in tables, indicate the statistical test(s) that was used to evaluate the data with a footnote. When possible, quantify findings and present them with appropriate indicators of measurement error or uncertainty (such as confidence intervals). Define statistical terms, abbreviations, and most symbols.



Number references consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. References appearing for the first time in tables and figures must be numbered in sequence with those cited in the text where the table or figure is mentioned. References are identified by Arabic numerals in parentheses.

Abstracts, unpublished observations, and personal communications may not be used as references, although references to written, not oral communications may be inserted (in parentheses) in the text. Include among the references papers accepted but not yet published; designate the journal and add "In press." Information from manuscripts submitted but not yet accepted should be cited in the text as "unpublished observations" (in parentheses). If a foreign manuscript is included in the reference list, the author(s) must provide two copies of a translated English abstract. If author's(s') own papers are quoted as "In press" in the reference list, two copies of such papers must be provided so that the referees can properly assess the paper submitted. References must be verified by the author(s) against the original documents. The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus. List all authors in an article, but if the number exceeds six, give six followed by et al.

Tables, Illustrations and Legends

Tables: Should be typed double-spaced on separate pages, and they should be titled and numbered in Arabic numerals in the order of their first citation in the text. Do not submit tables as photographs. Give each column a short heading. Place explanatory matter in footnotes, not in the heading. For footnotes use the following symbols, in this sequence: a, b, c, d, e, f. Do not use internal horizontal and vertical rules.

Illustrations: Figures should be professionally drawn and photographed; freehand or typewritten lettering is unacceptable. Figures should be submitted in a separate tiff or eps file. Lettering and identifying marks should be clear, and type size should be consistent on each figure. Capital letters should be used for specific areas of identification in a figure. Symbols, lettering, and numbering should be distinctly recognizable so that when the figure is reduced for publication each item will still be legible. Titles and detailed explanations belong in the legends for illustrations, not on the illustrations them-selves. Slides are not acceptable. There is a page charge for color photographs, with the exception of color graphs and color charts.

There is a maximum of one illustration and/or table for every 600 words (approximately 3 typewritten pages).

Legends: Type legends double-spaced in consecutive order on a separate page.


Case reports, Techniques and Instrumentation, Correspondence

Case reports: Should be succinct, informative, and limited to seven double-spaced pages of text (not including the running title, title page, capsule, or abstract) and one table or one figure.

Techniques and Instrumentation: Is limited to seven double-spaced pages of text (not including the running title, title page, capsule, or abstract) and three illustrations (e.g., three figures OR two figures and one table).

Correspondence: Should be limited to five double-spaced pages of text (not including the running title, title page, capsule, or abstract) and a maximum of one figure or one table. Include a 2-sentence narrative abstract, but do not include section headings.


Letters to the editor

This section of the journal is set aside for critical comments directed to a specific article that has recently been published in the journal. Letters should be brief (400 words), double-spaced, and limited to a maximum of 5 citations. The letters and replies should be prepared according to journal format. Illustrative material accepted only with permission of the Editor. With your corresponde-nce, please include your complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address. The Editor reserves the right to shorten letters, delete objectionable comments, and make other changes to comply with the style of the journal.


Review articles

A review article should focus on a topic of broad scientific interest, on recent advances in diagnosis and therapy, or on another timely subject relevant to the field of reproduction. Such articles must be concise and critical and include appropriate references to the literature. Reviews should not exceed 5,000 words in length, must include abstracts of 200 words or fewer, and must have no more than 100 references. The use of tables and color figures to summarize critical points is encouraged. Review Articles are reviewed by the Editors and other expert reviewers before a final publication decision is made, and revisions may be required.


 Peer Review process

1- For paper submission, authors should refer to the journal website ( and register themselves as an author using the "Register" link. After receiving their username and password via e-mail, the authors could use the "Submit paper" link, log in, and submit their manuscript.

2- If the received manuscript is not written according to the journal format (considering the format in sectioning, the number of words in abstract, references, etc.…) and/or the language does not meet the required quality, the manuscript will be sent back to the corresponding author for revision and re-submission.

3- Manuscripts having the above-mentioned criteria are referred to the related section editor. If the paper fits to the specified fields of the journal and has innovation, then it will be sent to three or more referees expert in that specific field, at least two of which are out of the editorial board members. The corresponding author could also suggest potential reviewers to the journal at the time of submission. However, the editorial board reserves the right to select or refuse to use the suggested potential reviewers.

4- If the nature of the work and the results necessitates deep statistical analysis, by suggestion of the Editor-in-Chief and/or referees, the manuscript is reviewed by a statistics expert as well.

5- Each reviewer suggests alteration/corrections or additional work to be done, asks questions to be answered by the author, and makes an overall opinion about the manuscript as being: acceptable as it is, acceptable after minor/major revision, or not acceptable. The reviewers comments are then sent to the corresponding author.

6- After receiving the modified version of the manuscript and/or author’s answers to the reviewers questions, it will be sent to a final reviewer. If the modifications and/or answers are not adequate, it will be sent back to the corresponding author with a specified deadline to send the final corrected version.

7- The final corrected version of the manuscript is sent back to the same final reviewer. Then, the comments and the overall opinion of the final reviewer are discussed in the journal's editorial board, and the final decision (the acceptance letter or a letter informing the author of not accepting the manuscript) will be sent to the corresponding author.

Proofs: Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author to be checked for only typographical errors and other essential small changes. Major alternations to the text cannot be accepted at this stage. Proofs must be returned to the Editor within 3 days of receipt.

Publication Fee: There is no publication fee for authors. 


Responsibilities of authors

The authors are responsible for accuracy of all statements and data contained in the manuscript, accuracy of all references information, and for obtaining and submitting permission from the author and publisher of any previously published material included in the submitted manuscript.
